I am confused

I just installed about a hundred MB of software updates. So how is it that now, i have MORE space available on my hard disk than I did before updates? O_o *boggle*

and. um. My virus definitions in Virex are up to date for the first time since I downloaded the program from .Mac. Oops. >_>

*cry* hungry... but I ate far, far too much today, anyway.
